ASF Srl was founded from a family tradition in the field of road transport. Bartolomeo Merlo, a professional 'carrettiere' (carter), awarded the honour of Cavaliere di Vittorio Veneto, after fighting in the Great War and later facing the difficult period of the Second World War, succeeded in founding Merlo Autotrasporti in 1950 together with his eldest sons.
